Poland has delivered more Rosomak 8x8 armored vehicles armed with the ZSSW-30 unmanned turret and Spike anti-tank missiles to the Land Forces Training Ground Center in Poznań, where they will be used to train soldiers from mechanized units, the country's Armament Agency said on social media. The agency said the delivery is the next stage of a contract signed in July 2022, and that putting modern equipment into training centers matters as much as delivering it to frontline units, because that is where future crews learn to use it. The July 2022 deal was the first contract under a framework agreement for 341 ZSSW-30 turrets for Rosomak vehicles. Signed on July 5, 2022, it covers 70 turrets to be fitted to Rosomak hulls already in Polish service, along with a logistics and training package, and is worth almost 1.7 billion zlotys (about $425 million at the time), with deliveries running from 2024 to 2027. The ZSSW-30 is Poland's first domestically developed unmanned turret, built by Huta Stalowa Wola, part of the state-owned Polish Armaments Group, and WB Electronics. Its crew sits inside the vehicle's hull and operates the turret remotely. It carries a 30 mm Mk44S Bushmaster II automatic cannon that can fire programmable ammunition, a 7.62 mm machine gun and a twin launcher for Israeli-designed Spike-LR anti-tank guided missiles. Its day and night sights let the commander and gunner search for targets independently, with the commander able to spot a target and hand it to the gunner to engage. The first five turreted Rosomaks entered service with the 21st Podhale Rifles Brigade of the 18th Mechanized Division in December 2023, and further batches have gone to the same brigade since. The vehicle itself is a Polish license-built version of the Finnish Patria AMV, produced by Rosomak S.A. in Siemianowice Śląskie, and the Polish Land Forces operate about 1,000 Rosomaks of various versions. In July 2024, it signed a second contract for 58 complete Rosomaks with ZSSW-30 turrets worth about 2.6 billion zlotys, with deliveries in 2026 and 2027. In December 2024, it ordered 80 Rosomak-L vehicles, a longer version of the vehicle designed to carry the heavier turret while still being able to cross water, for about 4.3 billion zlotys. The same turret is also mounted on Poland's new tracked Borsuk infantry fighting vehicle, of which 257 are now on order.
